so anyway..

So work was ok tonight as usual… We got busy a couple of times but nothing unreasonable. I came home and decided to have a few shots of Effen vodka. It’s some effen good shit, to say the least. Tonight I decided to just shoot it straight and chase with Sprite. MUCH better. I honestly think this shit was made for martinis or just shooting. As stated before, I opted for the black cherry variety, which is an excellent vodka. I had 4 shots (I think) and I’m a little tipsy, but nowhere near drunk. Oh, well.. I’ve actually found a neat extension for my website that notifies me when google indexes my site. Granted, it’s not going to find much of interest, but it’s kinda neat to know when google crawls my site and indexes it. It’s not an extension for wordpress as a whole, it’s basically just an extension that works for any site that runs php. I’ve also found a neat script that charts the loading time for al the hits on my site. Basically you can see the graphs if you scroll down at the bottom of all the content on the right hand side of my site. Oddly enough, from what I can tell, my site slows down during off-peak hours? That doesn’t make much sense to me, but even then it’s not horribly slow (6 seconds or so). Perhaps it’s something wacky with 1and1 (my webhost)? I’ve not, by any stretch of the imagination, been dissatisfied with them. I just find it odd that my site is slower between 10pm and 6am than other times of the day. My only guess is that there are less samples during that period and most are from predominantly dialup users, so that’s effecting my average. Any other ideas? Oh, well… off to bed I go.

payday

Yay…today was payday, which kicked ass. Me, Sam and Dwight ended up eating at Chop House. I haven’t eaten there in god knows how long, but as usual, we got amazing service. Seems like everytime Sam and I go, we get the red carpet rolled out and it just plain rocks. The waiter made about $15 off the 3 of us on a total of $45 or so. Then again, he did a great job and actually made sure our drinks were never empty and checked back up on us regularly. That’s all I reasonably expect from a waiter or watiress. I’m generally a really good tipper when I get good service. I’m pretty damn easy to please, to be honest. Anyway, so now I’m sitting at work listening to philosomatika as usual. I have a cheap pair of Altec Lansing headphones that I use while I’m at work. I originally bought them for a LAN party I went to in Nashville, but I’ve ended up using them mostly at work. While I’d rather have a pair of speakers, these work fine. They’re not the best headphones I’ve ever owned, and I’d kinda like to get another nicer pair (Sony or Senheiser come to mind).

kickass music

I’ve been listening to philosomatika quite a bit the past couple of days and they play some damn damn good shit. So today, they played a mix by this “DJ Celteric”:http://www.djcelteric.com called Sinister Disco that completely kicked ass. It had one of my favorite tracks of all time in it by Wizzy Noise called “Acid Level 33″. Kick fucking ass. Anyway, he has all his mixes available for download and as we speak I’m downloading all of them. I actually listened to Philosomatika all night at work tonight and enjoyed the shit out of it. Anyway, enough of my music rant.. off to enjoy more tunes.

whoa!

Yeah, I forgot to post this, but at work we have this huge UPS scale that can measure ungodly weights. Well, I stepped onto it because I hadn’t weighed myself in 5 or 6 months. Well, turns out that I weigh 130 now! I’ve never weighed 130, not even when I rode my bike 200 miles a week. Unfortunately this extra weight isn’t muscle, it’s fat. I’d like to shed the fat and gain it back (and then some) as muscle. That would be much much better. That would be why I’m getting one of these as soon as I come up with the money:
Fisher Dualsport 229

Yeah, it’s gonna run me about $800 but I don’t care. I could get my license back for that price but still not have a car. I can get around quite well on a bike; I’ve done it before. I actually rather enjoyed it, and I won’t feel so goddamn lazy all the time. I’m in such piss-poor shape lately, I’m surprised I’ve not gotten sick yet. No physical activity is really bad for the body.

And finally, a few download updates that I’ve found recently:
“Firefox”:http://www.getfirefox.com is now @ version 0.9.3 (as of a couple of weeks ago).
“Filezilla”:http://filezilla.sourceforge.net just released a new updated version… great FTP client in my opinion.. I use it regularly.
“Audacity”:http://audacity.sourceforge.net is a great audio editor… free, too!
“Irfanview”:http://www.irfanview.com/ is an awesome image viewer. Also free, and very easy to use. I’d highly recommend it.
“Adaware”:http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/ is now at 1.03SE. They’ve added some new features and stuff, so I’d suggest downloading it. If you’re unfamiliar with it, it removes spyware from your computer. Download it and see what it finds, you might be shocked.
Also, Windows XP Service Pack 2 has been released. To get it, just open IE and click tools, then “windows update”. It’s a pretty hefty download, but a recommended upgrade for sure.
Ok, I’m done. Maybe more shit to post tomorrow. Who knows?

browse happy!

Haha… I just found a link to this and thought it was amusing, but also very true. I’ve bitched about how shitty IE is a million times in my blog; that’s because it DOES fucking suck. Now the web standards organization is even getting into the mix with http://browsehappy.com/ which basically says what more or less everyone else has been saying the whole time. IE is insecure and it’s best not to use it anymore. Check it out…
Meanwhile, I’m sitting here at work listening to music and talking to friends online. However, there aren’t that many people online at the moment, so there’s not a whole lot of people to talk to. I’m not complaining too much though. I actually like my job. The only thing that sucks is that I have to work Wednesday through Sunday from 6p-2a, so I don’t get to go out on weekends at all. That’s the only shitty thing, my schedule. Other than that, it’s great. I hope to keep this job for quite awhile. :) That’s all for now.. I’m sure I’ll have more to post later.

my job

Yeah, so I’m officially working now… Finally taking calls by myself and whatnot. I think this is the first job I’ve had that I’m not like “goddamn, I have to go to work”… it actually doesn’t bother me to have to come to work for a change, which is mucho cool-o. Even better is the fact that I sit right beside my best friend Sam, so we get to sit and bullshit in between calls… Can’t beat it with a stick. :-P I also get to sit and talk to my friends on AIM in between calls, along with surf the web and post on my favorite forums.

ugh.. dayshift blows

Yeah… I’m so glad to officially be done with dayshift now. Working 7:30-3:30 is absolutely the gayest shit ever. The guy that trained me was at least pretty cool, though. Starting Thursday, I’ll be working 6pm-2am. My NORMAL schedule is going to be Wednesday through Sunday, 6pm-2am. That works out pretty well with my sleeping schedule if I can ever get it back to where it used to be. Since it was really nice out yesterday, I actually walked home. Took me like an hour or so including the time I spent eating at Burger King. At some point within the next couple of months, I’m actually going to buy a bike that I can ride back and forth to work. I’m so horribly out of shape and I actually miss getting out and getting some exercise. I’m kinda stuck between two different bikes… One’s $669, the other is about $800. The more expensive one looks to have a nicer frame and possibly would be a little better for going off-road if I do ever decide to do so.

awesome!

Ya know.. I absolutely love going out to eat at a fast food joint and seeing someone that I graduated with working there. It makes me so happy to see these preppy jockboys from HS slaving away working fast food not making jack shit or doing anything worth a shit. Yup, see where playing all those sports got you in life? NOWHERE! I went to the mall today and ate @ Frank & Stein which is basically a place that sells hot dogs and shit. He’s actually the one that recognized me and asked if I went to Seymour… I don’t remember his name or much of anything about him other than that he was one of the jocks that was on the football team, wrestled, etc and basically just slid through HS without doing jack shit. Wonder if he’ll ever get a real job doing anything of any consequence. I doubt it, which is fine by me since SOMEONE has to serve me my fries, pour my drink and bag my fuckin groceries. Might as well be the idiot jocks I went to school with. :)

Wow… amazing vodka

My friend Andy decided to come over last night so we could hang out and get drunk as fuck. Well, we went to the liquor store and bought some vodka called “Effen (Effen GOOD vodka!)”:http://www.effenvodka.com for $32 a fifth. Expensive shit, but it was amazing. We opted for the black cherry flavor and ended up mixing it with Sprite. I have a rule that I always “christen” a bottle of vodka by taking a shot with one or more of my friends. Normally vodka has that burn that just makes me want to curl up on the floor and look like I magically contracted downs syndrome & epilepsy in one fell swoop. This vodka was different, however. No burn, just a slight tingle and a good vanilla-ish aftertaste (bottle says black cherry + vanilla flavor). I was actually considering just doing shots, but decided to just go ahead and mix with Sprite. Turns out, it’s not really mixing vodka as mixing it with Sprite wasn’t all that great. It wasn’t horrible, just not great. I think I’m just going to end up drinking this shit straight from now on. It’s THAT good. Needless to say, I had a few drinks and got pretty buzzed and ended up passing out at like 2:30 or 3am. I can’t even remember, but I know I slept like a fucking baby! I woke up at like 11am, then went to eat lunch with Dwight at around 12:30 or so… haven’t done much of anything since then. I finally upgraded our gateway machine to XP SP2. I’m pretty pleased with it so far, though it’s only been up and running for about 5 hrs or so. Not much time for it to crash and burn in that short period of time. I’m also still trying to decide what kind of bike (not motorcycle) to get. I’ve found 3 Gary Fisher bikes I like. The Dual Sport 229 : http://www.fisherbikes.com/bikes/bike_detail.asp?series=dualsport&bike=DualSport229 has really caught my eye… though also there’s one called the “Utopia” :http://www.fisherbikes.com/bikes/bike_detail.asp?series=citypath&bike=Utopia that I like a lot. However, I could go with a full-blown mountain bike & just put less knobby tires on it… The Tassajara Disc : http://www.fisherbikes.com/bikes/bike_detail.asp?series=genesis&bike=Tassajara_Disc has caught my attention there. A few Cannondale bikes have caught my attention, but they seem to be a bit over my price limit of $1000. I’d prefer to keep it around $750 to be honest, but I could probably go up to around $1k if necessary. Cannondale makes the Bad Boy Ultra : http://www.cannondale.com/bikes/04/cusa/model-4FSBB.html which I like a lot, but I think it’s close to $1500. I can buy a car for that much despite the fact that I have no desire to own a car again. Cars cost entirely too much in maintenance and gas and insurance… So I get a bike and end up being in better health and saving a shitload of money per month.

wooo… jobby job

lol.. Yeah, I have a job now working with Sam.. fun fun fun.. Anyway, today’s the first day I actualy get to take calls after being in training Mon-Wed. I have someone sitting with me, which is nice. Hah.. anyway, the few calls I’ve taken have been relatively easy so far. They’ve got me sorta setup on the network, but I don’t have an actual network login yet… I can get into our portal system and not much else. lol… I hate this 7:30-3:30 shit.. I can’t wait to go on my 6-2 shift. I’ve also decided on a bike instead of getting a fucking car. Cars just cost so much money for gas, insurance, maintenance, etc. I’ve done the bike thing before and I absolutely loved it. I figure I’ll spend $700 or so on a decent bike. The best thing is that I’ll gain tons of weight from biking. Mostly muscle mass in my legs, but at least I won’t weigh 115 anymore. When I used to do 200 miles a week, I weighed 127-129 lbs. I’m in such horrible shape right now, so I definitely need to start getting out and doing stuff again… Hopefully within a month, I’ll have a decent bike.
