Well, I got Doom 3 and I’ve been playing the shit out of it. It’s a pretty kickass game, actually. If you loved playing the old school doom games back in the day, you’ll absolutely love this one. It’s more of the same old straightforward “kill a buncha monsters, find a key, open the door, kill more monsters”. There’s not much in the way of puzzles to be solved or anything. On occasion, you’ll run around the same area a few times trying to find a stupid ladder to climb up… The graphics are absolutely awe-inspiring. I play it on my computer @ 1024×768 at high detail and it gets laggy at times, but it looks absolutely amazing. I took some screenshots of just the scenery in the levels themselves and it’s unbelievable how good they’ve made the graphics look. I would recommend at least an AthlonXP 3000+ or P4 3.0Ghz, 1GB RAM, and an ATI Radeon 9800XT or nvidia GeForceFX 5950 to see it in all its glory and keep it playable. Obviously lower systems will play the game fairly well, but at lower resolution/detail level. I’m not even sure how far into the game I am as of right now. I hope I’m more than halfway through because I’ve been playing for quite awhile as it is. Hopefully I’ll have beat it fairly soon.
