I finally beat it, though I had to cheat like a motherfucker in order to do so. I stopped short of using god mode to beat it, but I did have the good old command “give all” bound to my G-key. Anytime I got low on health, ammo or armor, I’d just hit the G key and be back to 100 health, 125 armor, all weapons, and full ammo. And yeah, I was playing on the lowest difficulty level. I’ll probably either never play it again and uninstall it… or I might play multiplayer a little bit with my friends. Most likely I won’t play it much anymore because my attention span really IS that short. I download a game, beat it to see what the ending is like, then uninstall it and never play it again. Sometimes, I never even make it through to the end (depends if there are cheat codes or not). My attitude towards it is this… When the game gets hard, you do what you can to get around that fact. Who gives a fuck if you cheat, it’s a stupid game. Why should I put all kinds of time and effort into actually WORKING to beat a video game when there are cheat codes right in front of my face I could use and not have to worry about dying 2879387523045435987 times to beat it. I don’t see anything wrong with using cheat codes to beat a game because hey, it doesn’t matter how you got there; it just matters that you did! People might bitch that it’s more “rewarding” to beat a game without cheating. I disagree. There is nothing rewarding about beating a video game. Whoopity fucking doo. “I spent 35 hours beating this video game and I’m so proud of myself”…. Big fucking deal, I put in some cheat codes and did it in 20. Different means to the same end and my means were much more efficient. I have 15 extra hours to eat, sleep, and do whatever the hell else I wanna do. Plus, as far as Doom3 goes, after I saw the ending I was so glad I took the quick and easy way out. I would have been REALLY fucking pissed off if I had paid $55 for this game and spent 25-30 hours of my time only to see the kind of ending I saw. What a fucking joke. Basically, I got about 80% of the way through the game (I think it was Delta Labs 3? maybe 4?) before I got annoyed and just started using the give all code. I didn’t use god mode until the final boss because, well, the fucker hits you once and you’re dead. Anyway, I took more screenshots and they’re up in the gallery. The game takes the damn things in .tga format, which my gallery and most browsers aren’t a big fan of. So I had to find something to convert them over to jpg format. Somehow I ran across “this program “:http://atlantic.photoisland.com/photosharing/jpgconv.html called PhotoIsland JPG Batch Converter. Works well, but renames the fuckers with a single digit filename. Fine for stuff like this, but horrible for files whose names you want to keep intact. Oh well, it’s free and it did the job.
