The Cynic Says……

So yeah… I got bored tonight and found out some of the most random things a person could ever want to know… Though pretty cool because I’m a fucking dork like that. I was basically researching various cities and stuff on the “City Data”:http://www.city-data.com website and found out that every single one of the cities on their list of safest cities in which to live… were predominantly white. Then again, this isn’t the least bit shocking to me. After all, the most crime ridden city with one of the highest unemployment rates imagineable is predominantly black. Detroit, MI. Absolute cesspool of a city and the epitome of everything that is wrong in the world today… Something like 35% of people in Detroit are on welfare or government assistance.. 18% unemployed… 24% or so below poverty. Only 69.6% ever finished HS! Oh yeah… and it’s 81.6% black! I dunno… It may very well be coincidence that most of the crime-ridden cities in America are predominantly black. I know it sure as fuck doesn’t speak for ALL of them because I’ve met some pretty well educated black people in my life… why aren’t THEY the norm and not the exception to the rule? There are cities that have 20-30% black populations and still have perfectly acceptable crime rates. I wonder what causes Detroit to be such a shithole? I’d say the high unemployment rate has a lot do with the crime rate. Plus a lot of businesses are moving out of the city to other places, so that’s not helping things. Knoxville’s crime rate is actually pretty damn high too for a city under 200k. Knoxville’s crime index is 570.3, while the national average is 330.6. Detroit’s is 953.5 by comparison. Oh well… I found all kinds of other random shit out, but I don’t feel like posting it here… But also note that Chicago(693), St Louis (1212), Memphis (894), Birmingham (716), and New Orleans (590) also have very high crime rates and white minorities. Philadelphia is about equally mixed and still has a crime index of 575. Phoenix is 55% white and has a crime index of 620.3… San Diego is the one exception to the rule of large city = high crime… Their crime index is only 333, which is insanely low for such a large city. I guess it’s just the matter of St Louis and Detroit being utter shit and having nothing to offer anyone. Oh well.. enough rambling for now…
