cold weather

Well, it looks like the cold weather is starting to make its way here, which means I need to get some warmer clothes and gloves. I don’t really mind riding in the cold weather overall as long as I keep my hands and ears warm. My legs and body stay warm pretty well due to the muscles being used while cycling. However, heat leaves the extremities fastest so I need to keep them covered to stay warm. Warm gloves, turtlenecks, and a toboggan or balaclava would be a good investment. I’m also thinking about a helmet cover to cover up all the vents on my helmet and keep my head warm. I may also need to invest in some rain gear because we seem to get a TON of rain during the winter and when it’s cold the rain REALLY sucks. Summer rain is actually lots of fun. Winter rain is not. Luckily we only get 2 months of really cold weather and a couple months of cold nights but decent days. I’d hate to live in MN or anywhere in the northeast where they get sub-zero temps throughout the winter. It was in the mid-30’s last night and I rode home with no gloves or toboggan so I was cold as fuck when I got home. My body stayed pretty well warm. This morning when I rode home it was about 47 or so. Still cold enough to make my hands very uncomfortable, but not as bad as last night. Getting off work @ 2am guarantees I’m going to be outside at the coldest time of the day, it seems. Luckily it’s only 2.4 miles home. At any rate, I’ve been enjoying riding a LOT and I try to manage to take some random pics as I’m out riding when I get the opportunity. I’ll be putting them in my “cycling pics” section in my gallery. The link to my pics is over there on the right, so check it out if you get the chance.
