The Cynic Says……

So yeah, I’m working another 17 hour shift tonight to cover for the dude who normally works 3a-11a. I don’t really mind since my job is pretty cool and we don’t get busy during these hours anyway. I have a 2 liter of Dr Pepper in the fridge to keep me up most of the night. Skittles and starburst should help too. I even have some peanuts and pretzels too. :p I’m well stocked, obviously.

Last night I was leaving work and managed to hit a rabbit on my bike. How fucking absurd is that? I was coasting along and I felt something thwack my bike and rock it sideways a bit. Turned around and there was an animal of some sort writhing around in pain. I turn around and go back, turns out it’s a cute little rabbit and by this time it appears to be dead, laying in a pool of its own blood. I’m not even sure where on my bike it hit, but it hit with a decent amount of force. Probably snapped the poor little fucker’s neck! Oddly, it didn’t jump right out in front of me or in front of my tire, rather. It hit somewhere along the frame of my bike from what I could tell. Perhaps it hit my spokes or my fork but it would have left some sort of blood, fur or other remains had it hit my spokes. It may also have locked up my front wheel, perhaps damaging the bike and myself. All in all, very strange. I didn’t see it still laying there on my way in today so either it wasn’t dead or it got cleaned up somehow.

As far as the bike itself goes, my new shorter stem is coming Monday (today, tomorrow, whichever you feel like calling it) and with my next paycheck I’m going to order some more comfortable bars. The Deda Newtons I have are ok, but I don’t like their shape and fit. The reach is way too long and I don’t like the curved drops. Here’s the bars I’m currently drooling over:

3TTT Biomorphe XL.

The 3TTT is harder to find but appears to have more interesting bends and kinks that may or may not fit my hands better. The Biomorphes appear to have a really really deep (105mm) reach as opposed to the 91mm reach on the Curvissimas. The Dedas I have now are 95mm reach. Decisions, decisions… sheesh. It’s ok, though… I love pouring money into something that gives me so much enjoyment. It’s worth it.
