Yes, believe it or not, my girlfriend and I actually got pets now. We were at Petsmart and decided we wanted a pet (or two) and initially settled on a fish. However, the fish we wanted required a minimum of a 15 gallon tank with a 20 gallon recommended. I didn’t feel like dropping the coin on a 20 gallon aquarium setup so we looked around some more and came across some fire bellied toads. They were under $6 a piece, so they were pretty cheap overall. We also bought them a small cage setup, some gravel, food and those little plastic plants. All told it was about $48 to get started, which isn’t absolutely horrible.
We had decided awhile back that we wanted a pet or some pets of some sort. Initially she wanted a cat, but I didn’t feel like dealing with a cat and having to worry about paying the $250 pet fee. Frogs are easy to hide… cats, not so much. Plus frogs are cheap to feed since they eat crickets, which are only $0.08 each. I have no idea how old these fuckers are, to be honest… and I didn’t even bother to ask. I know one is male and one is female and we haven’t absolutely settled on names for them just yet. We have a few things in mind but nothing set in stone. We’ll figure something out, I’m sure. I haven’t bothered to take pics yet either. I dunno if I even will. I mean, they’re FROGS, for god’s sake! Regardless, it’s kinda cool having pets around to take some of the monotony out of sitting around the apartment. Hopefully we don’t end up killing them in a drunken stupor one night.
